Lemonade (with a generational twist!)

Lemonade
with a generational twist!

Who knew that two stings would lead to becoming an influencer, entrepreneur, and world-changer (literally) by saving bees? After seeing this tea featured on numerous African-American social media accounts and sites, I literally asked myself “who knew?”. At some point in the span of 4 years Mikaila, Founder of Me and the Bees Lemonade, was told that she could do anything. She believed it!

After being encouraged by her family to make a product to compete in a children’s business competition and Austin Lemonade Day, she recalled two bee stings and her granny’s 1940 cookbook. While some family traditions need to be broken, granny’s gift, a Flaxseed Lemonade recipe, has stood the test of time!

Although Mikaila is a mouthpiece for change, her family possessed something very special throughout generations.

Wisdom

Shark Tank was able to propel this young girl’s passion and purpose. Her family was wise enough to understand financial responsibility. They positioned her for a greater opportunity and rejected the urge for loans and credit cards to grow her business.

Investment

Mikaila has expanded her own production of honey yet still commits a portion of her profit to research and protection of bees. She believes in her contribution to the world, saving one bee at a time. Not only has she made an investment for a sustainable environment she has also changed the forecast of her financial future.

While many children have their eyes on the latest Jordans and game console, it is imperative to impart financial wisdom concerning budgets and saving at an early age. Always remember that people are willing to invest in a child’s dream. Listen to children closely because what may seem to be a complaint (innovation) or cute idea may be the next big thing!

Toast to Mikaila Ulmer: A social entrepreneur, bee ambassador and educator while still a student!

Secret 7: The latest is not always the greatest idea!

Grandma may not be tech savvy but her life lessons still have great meaning. I remember my grandmother used to say, “There is nothing new under the sun!” and “Just keep living.” According to Ecclesiastes 1:9, much on this Earth is repetitive but I encourage sippers to choose wisely what you repeat. I choose to establish a legacy of faith (in GOD) and freedom (financial and health).
